Summer Favourites!

I did a favourites post a while back and tbh I really enjoyed it, I think sometimes it can be hard not to feel that you're boxed in to just talking about books and don't get me wrong, I love books but there are aslo so many other things I love and I want to start sharing more of them! You may have noticed that on my instagram have been slowly incorporating more lifestyle and fitness content for this very reason, though I don’t love fitness yet I find that when I share things about it I get more motivation and tips from other people which I desperately need to keep going! I just love talking to people about the things I’m enjoying, and I find that I like to look back and remember what I was loving at certain times, so without further ado here is a round up of things I have been loving this summer!

Watching:

My partner and I have recently been obsessed with the How to Become guides on Netflix, there are two shows and tough they sound dodgy, I promise we’re not trying to become them! So there is one programme on How to Become a Cult Leader, and one on How to Become a Tyrant. They are just brilliant, I can’t lie the cult one drew me i immediately because I’ve recently been on a bit of a cult Netflix binge- watching loads of series about cults but this is done so well. Narrated by Peter Dinklage, the guides are really funny - dry and sarcastic and feature interviews with experts and are just really eye opening to how these people manipulate, so I’d really recommend!

Though it is finished now, I truly loved watching the Women’s World Cup! As a lifelong football fan, it makes me so happy to see the women's game given more airtime and credit - the fact that the Lionesses got to the final was a phenomenal achievement and I’m so proud of them. It even inspired my partner and I to buy a ball to kick around, which has been so much fun because I haven't played in years and as I was watching the games I was genuinely getting upset that I’d stopped! So I’m really glad thatI am playing again, and that Nike have finally agreed to sell Mary Earps shirt as she is incredible and I love her!

Listening:

Recently I’ve really been enjoying Tahnee Cook’s Chuffed podcast, one of the MAFS AU cast members, Tahnee has recently started a podcast in which she interviews her fellow cast members and I have found it so insightful. It’s been really eye opening to hear from Melinda, Tahnee and Alyssa about all of the things we didn't see on the show and how heavily edited it is. It sounds so silly because of course you know that when you’re home watching, but hearing them discuss it really filled in the gaps which I found really interesting. I’m excited to see what the next episodes hold!

I’ve also been getting more into audiobooks recently as they’re something I listen to while at the gym as one of the excuses I tell myself to getout of going is that it takes away from my reading time so I’m trying to negate that by listening to audiobooks while there! I’ve been really loving listening to romance books, The Dead Romantics I found brilliantly funny and have since moved on to listen to Ashely Poston’s next book!

A song I’ve really been loving recently is The Alcott by The National featuring Taylor Swift, because it can’t be a favourites list without a Taylor feature somewhere! But I just love the sound of this song, its just so beautifully done I can’t stop listening to it!

“Food”:

I put food in air quotes here as you’ll see that when I say food, what I really mean is sweets. I have such a massive sweet tooth, and I’ve always been a bit obsessive when it comes to my snacks. What I mean by that is that I will randomly pick up a sweet one day and then I become obsessed with it for months and want no others, and my recent obsessions are strawberry millions and cadbury caramel buttons! Both incredibly moreish and great and I’m writing this before lunch but now they’re all I want!

And given the recent heatwave, another addition is the double caramel magnum ice creams. I have always loved these, that layer of gooey caramel in between the two chocolate layers? I love it so much, and I have been eating so many of them in this heat to try and keep cool!

Beauty:

The Maybelline lash sensational mascara, not revolutionary I know and very much a cult youtube product from back in the day. Recently I tried a rimmel mascara I’d got for free and it was okay but when it ran out and I went back to maybelline, and I really realised just how good it is, just miles better in making my lashes look longer and feel less clumpy!

Next is the Colourpop desert rose powder blush which I actually bought a while bck when they did their animal crossing range, but hadn’t really used until recently. I love it, it goes on really naturally and gives such a warm tone and is easily buildable! Perfect for my skintone, I’m really enjoying using it!

Finally, the Nivea cocoa radiant 48 hour moisturiser - I have been trying for ages to find a good body moisturiser that sinks in quickly, doesn’t cost the earth and is easy to apply with acrylic nails on (I hate trying to get stuff out of pots) and this does the job perfectly! Also has the added benefit of smelling delicious, but it really does make my skin feel so smooth, which is perfect as we head into the colder months!

So, there you have some of the things II've recently been loving. Let me know what you've been loving recently so I can try tem out and see if I like them too! I'm going to try and kep doing these to see how much my habits change, because I really do think they change with the seasons!
